SOME HIGHLIGHTS
Porto Ercole – This historic and picturesque small harbour, along the southern coast of Tuscany, used to be the high profile capital of a Spanish enclave in the 16th century, called “State of Presidi“. Due to its strategic importance, the Spaniards built four fortresses around Porto Ercole (still in excellent conditions) for the protection of the citadel. The Palace of the Spanish Governor is one of the highlights of medieval Porto Ercole.
Elba Island – First belonged to the Etruscans, then the Romans. From 1814 to 1815 it was the dominion and residence of Napoleon. His villa is now open to the public. Thanks to its climate, its exquisite beaches and beautiful bays, its interesting historic and artistic patrimony, its fine cuisine and wines, Elba is unparalleled.
The Marche Region – This relatively underrated region has escaped the impact of mass tourism. Yet, the beauty of its landscape and picturesque historic villages is even better than the much celebrated countryside of Tuscany. Our scenic drives and sightseeing throughout the region will astound you.
Civitella Alfedena – This historic village dating back to the 11th century is located in the heart of the National Park of Abruzzo at 1,100m above sea level, overlooking a picturesque small lake surrounded by green mountains. The pristine environment of the National Park and the charming architecture of the village, dotted with alleys, pretty squares and balconies full of flowers, make this place quite unique.
Sulmona – It is one of the most elegant heritage towns of the Abruzzo Region (at 400m above sea level) flanked by the snowy peaks of the Maiella mountains. Within its medieval walls, the clock seems to have stopped a long time ago and the traditional architecture is as pristine as it has been for centuries.
